Aren’t these just lines and curves following some pattern? Ever wondered how is it that you are able to read this as text? How this text makes sense to your brain and gives some meaning? Pondering over these, we are reminded of our kinder garden education; a lovely teacher holding our tiny hand and moving it on the small black slate, defining that two slanted lines and a horizontal line at the middle could mean the letter ‘A’, which also is the starting letter for a delicious fruit’s name- Apple.

Although many years have passed, the basic spirit of the teacher still remains the same- Selflessly educate the children so that they could get a stronghold in their life. Sadly, such noble souls are not often remembered.
Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was one of India’s greatest teachers and philosophers of all time. Some of his students wanted to celebrate his birthday. Dr.Radhakrishnan, the embodiment of every teacher’s noble spirit humbly said “instead of celebrating my birthday separately, it would be my proud privilege if September 5th is observed as Teacher’s day”.
So from that birthday of his in 1962 onwards, Teacher’s day has been celebrated in India on 5th September every year to remember and thank the many teachers in our life who selflessly taught us important values in life and moulded us into a successful human being.
On this day, there are many activities in school honoring the teachers and there are also some fun activities like students acting like teachers while the teachers sit and listen to them acting as students.

However and whenever may the day be celebrated around the world, let us all honour the great people who acted as selfless invisible farmers and sowed value seeds in our hearts and mind that has blossomed into fruitful trees and has made it possible for us to shine in life and become successful. The least we can say to them for making us this successful in life and made it possible for me to write a blog and for you to read the blog is this- let us proudly and happily say it,
In India 5th September is celebrated as Teachers’ day, which is a tribute to the contribution made by teachers to this society. 5th September is the birthday of a great teacher Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, who was a well-known diplomat, scholar, president of India and above all a teacher.
HISTORY:
When Dr. Radhakrishnan became the President of India in 1962, he was approached by some of his students and friends and requested him to allow them to celebrate 5th September, his “birthday”. In reply, Dr.Radhakrishnan said, “instead of celebrating my birthday separately, it would be my proud privilege if September 5 is observed as Teachers’ day”. The request showed Dr.Radhakrishnan’s love for the teaching profession. From then onwards, the day has been observed as Teachers’ Day in India.
Teachers mold and influence the life of their fellow students. The lessons received from teachers will remain with their students throughout their lifetime. Teachers never look for gains in their profession. Their service to the society is selfless. However, Teacher’s day is one occasion when the society recognizes and acknowledges their effort and service to the country.

All across the world, Teacher’s Day is celebrated to honor teachers for their sincere efforts to impart knowledge to their students. In this Teacher’s Day, we convey the message that we care for our teachers, just as they do. Celebrating the festival is the recognition of the devotion, with which, teachers undertake the responsibility of educating a child academically as well as morally.
Teacher’s Day is observed on different dates in different countries of the world, the celebrations also vary. In many countries, cultural programs are held, which may include singing competitions, dance and play performances. In India, Teacher’s Day (also called Teachers’ Appreciation Day or National Teacher’s Day) is celebrated on 5th of September, every year. The date was selected because of the birth date of a timeless teacher and the former President of India – Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.
On this day, school students dress up like their teachers and teach their juniors, the same way as their teachers do. Teachers play games like outdoor games, some indoor games. Students conduct dramas and some kind of performance to entertain their teachers. Sometimes, the teachers also sit in the classes acting like students, reliving the time, when they themselves were students. This creates an understanding between the teachers and their students. As the day passes, the students perform the activities that are performed by the teachers.
Use this occasion to remember your loved teachers.
