Ayodhya Verdict Today

Today is the most awaited day for the people who want to know the Verdict of Ayodhya. They are going to reveal the verdict by 3.00 PM.

Drawing upon Mahatma Gandhi’s favourite hymn, home minister P. Chidambaram sent out a strong political message saying the country would not let the Ayodhya dispute derail the ‘Big India story’. “I wish to quote from Gandhi ji’s favourite bhajan, Ishwar Allah Tero Naam, Sabko Sanmati De Bhagwan,” Chidambaram said 24 hours before the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court pronounces its verdict on the disputed Babri Masjid-Ram Janmabhoomi title suit. “Today’s youth do not believe in such an approach,” he said, referring to the demolition of the Babri Masjid in 1992.

“I think they recognise that the India story is more than a dispute about a place to which one particular religious group is entitled or another. The India story is much bigger and I think the Big India story should not be derailed by a dispute over a place,” he said.

UPA president Sonia Gandhi also issued an appeal, urging the people to accept the verdict and maintain peace. “Emotional integrity is the biggest strength of Indian society,” she said.” An overwhelming majority said they would respect the verdict. I think it is a great advance from the positions people took in the 1990s,” Chidambaram said on Wednesday.

ayodhya verdict

When asked if India had moved on because parties such as the BJP had already milked the political gains out of Ayodhya, Chidambaram said he would not be dragged into a political debate.

“The BJP’s official position over the last few days is they will abide by the verdict,” he said when asked if situation in the BJP- ruled states was a worry. “A judgment is not to pick winners and losers. That should be left to the Commonwealth Games,” he said.

States across the country beefed up security. Six districts of Jharkhand have been put on high alert. Additional forces have been deployed in Yamunanagar, Mewat, Panipat, Gurgaon and Karnal districts of Haryana and Batala and Gurdaspur districts of Punjab. Kolkata police commissioner Gautam Chakrabarty said 18 of 48 polices stations had been identified as sensitive.
