Prasanna’s “Tadroopi”, Kannada’s most significant play is going to be performed today evening at Chowdaiah Memorial Hall, Bangalore at 7pm. It is a sarcastic play written during the Emergency against the autocratic system and was very effective as well as popular in those times. For the last two decades, no theatre group has ventured to stage this play, as the episodes and characters of this play pose a great challenge to the director. But Sanchaya theatre group brings to you, for the first time in twenty years – Tadroopi on stage!
All proceeds from Tadroopi go to The Sparsh Foundation. The Sparsh Guru Namana program is an initiative of the Sparsh Foundation – the charitable wing of Sparsh hospital set up by Dr Sharan Patil. As a part of this program, around 100 retired school teachers with crippling arthritis and no insurance cover will undergo total joint replacement surgery. All treatment and post-operative care will be provided completely free of cost. The surgeries will be held from September 5 (Teacher’s Day) to September 12, 2010. A team of 25 specialists from India, UK & USA along with Team Sparsh will conduct the surgeries.
