We came across an interesting story of a Bangalore based guy, BM Giriraj, who is extremely passionate about directing movies, but never got a chance to direct movies, mainly because producers who believed in numerology or cast systems often sidelined him.

Giriraj decides to take up the challenge and decides to produce and direct a movie of his own. He spends his lifetime savings of Rs 35000 into making of his movie. With a dedicated cast, lots of support from friends and family,movie has now been realized.

Earlier this year, Giriraj decided to become an independent filmmaker and the idea of Navilaadavaru was born. “I had Rs 35,000 with me and there was no option but to make a film within that budget,” says Giriraj, who turned producer and director with this venture.

The shoe-string budget meant many innovations. An ordinary television camera is available on rent for Rs 750 per day. But Giriraj could not even consider that. He borrowed a Canon DSLR still camera from his friend Anoop Joseph. The camera had a video recording option and Joseph, a still photographer, set a condition that the camera be returned whenever he had work.
